It’s not news that pay transparency is becoming a more significant issue. We’re looking to address it in a variety of ways with our Community and this month on CXR’s podcast channel, we had the opportunity to have two great conversations about it.
First up, I sat down with CXR’s Founder, Gerry Crispin, to chat about transparency as a whole and what’s happening on the pay transparency front. With pay-related legislation popping up around the country, it’s clear that organizations, particularly their talent acquisition teams, need to make strides toward increased transparency within the hiring process.
Beyond impending or existing legislation, why should organizations focus on pay transparency? Gerry notes that without it, we’re helping to reinforce the pay equity gap between genders, races, ethnicities, and disabilities. Check out our 20-minute conversation here.
Why is pay transparency rising in importance?
I also had the chance to talk with Charlie Franklin, an HR practitioner turned entrepreneur. Charlie co-founded Compa, a deal desk software built as a bridge between TA and total rewards teams.
How did we arrive at the age of pay transparency? Charlie thinks it’s a combo of factors, including the fiercely competitive hiring market, the “evolving social contract between employees and employers,” and the availability of data, that has changed the hiring game. As a result, organizations at the forefront of pay transparency are empowering their recruiters to show up in a strategic and impactful way for both hiring managers and candidates.
To be successful as a recruiter in this market, Charlie notes that you need to “become fluent in your organization’s compensation language.” Check out the full podcast here.
These conversations are just the start of a planned focus on the importance of pay transparency and different ways to influence it. Stay tuned…
