Love this recent interview by Unleash’s Daniel Richardson with long-time CXR member, Danielle Monaghan VP Global Talent Recruiting & Mobility at Uber. They touch on four key areas and all are top-of-mind topics. Here are our takeaways before you jump in and read the full interview. (link at the end)

Diversity: Specifically how Uber has instituted the Mansfield Rule across corporate recruiting. It’s fascinating stuff – we featured it on our podcast not long ago: listen here.

High-tech & high-touch recruiting: Yes, those two things really can go together. We appreciate Danielle’s insights into the use of automation. She also gets in a plug for the importance of data analytics.

Upskilling: We’re hearing it more and more often – upskilling, internal mobility, learning & development – these are all critical components in the world of talent. Organizations have got to figure out how to develop their talent and give people paths to grow without leaving for another organization. Danielle says it best:

“We hire people with really interesting backgrounds: ex-sports players in the US NFL, ex-military, veterans, and then we put them through a four-month Talent Acquisition Academy program, and then they graduate” and join respective teams. “We do that every quarter, and we have about 15 people in the cohort, so we can graduate 60 plus people a year. It’s been super successful. So I love growing your own [talent], but you just have to be very committed to it because they are not going to come in off the ground running.”

The interview wraps up with a bit about the future of recruiting. Well worth the read.
